The Special Operations Executive (SOE) sent many brave men and women as secret agents into occupied territory. These extremely resolute men and women often sacrificed themselves. Many were tortured and murdered. They have had little recognition by people today whose freedom is very much owed to them. I am an artist and have painted a series of original oil paintings to commemorate their brave deeds, lest we forget. I have also researched their stories and they accompany the paintings. In addition, I have painted tributes to a few other heroes of mine whose courageous deeds may otherwise be lost in time. I include paintings and stories of three family members in this section. This book encourages artists to see such history painting as a worthwhile subject and a creative path that they might follow.
